I became a child all at once

I knew not what went wrong (or right?)
I became a child all at once
The weather was so cool
‘Cause it was a damp monsoon evening

I was watching droplets falling off the leaves
With wonder and awe in my wide wide eyes
I could smell those chrysanthemums
And see the red beads on coffee plants

There was a garden lizard
That stared at me for long
And there was this squirrel
Who hid under the bower to escape the shower

I watched the bubbles bursting
And then splashed the puddle of water
I picked the hailstone
And tasted the cold

I ran in the courtyard, dancing and singing
Drenching in the water that poured from above
I could see the lightening splitting the sky
And hear the thunder that echoed in the valley

Everything was new, every was fresh,
Those flowers and leaves and fruits and nuts
The earth and the heavens
The clouds and the breeze

I became a child all at once
I knew not what went wrong (or right?)
