Biggest conspiracy of the century unfolds

It has been a hot topic of debate among literary and academic circles about the author who actually wrote Shakespeare’s works. And now, a television show is exploring the same.
In what they claim as one of the most exciting on-screen literary rows, Anonymous - to be telecast in PIX - not only questions Shakespeare's identity, but also that of Queen Elizabeth, the 'Virgin Queen'. Anonymous starring the brilliant Rhys Ifans and veteran English actress Vanessa Redgrave will be premiered as this month’s Hand PIX on August 09, 2012 at 9pm on PIX.

Set in the political snake-pit of Elizabethan England, Anonymous speculates on an issue that has for centuries intrigued academics and brilliant minds ranging from Mark Twain and Charles Dickens to Henry James and Sigmund Freud, namely: who was the author of the plays credited to William Shakespeare?

The tale of Anonymous spans decades of the late 16th/early 17th centuries, a framework densely adorned by a love affair between young De Vere and cougar Queen Elizabeth I, a succession scheme guided by wicked royal counselors William and Robert Cecil, and the scandalous dramatic output from De Vere's own quill -- handed off to disapproving London playwright Ben Jonson before finding a willing adopter in the roguish Shakespeare.

Rhys Ifans (Edward De Vere)

The Duke of Oxford long considered a front-runner for having authored many (if not all) of the plays attributed to William Shakespeare.

Vanessa Redgrave (Queen Elizabeth)

Forever fighting the conflicting forces of head and heart, she transits from flighty, fiery young woman to old, embittered ruler.
